Don’t buy it 😡 camera quality not good

Alright, so the DJI Action 4 Combo has totally won me over. That charging case? Pure genius. It’s so convenient—just snap the batteries in, and the magnetic connection takes care of the rest. Seriously, every company needs to start doing charging cases like this one. It makes swapping batteries a no-brainer, and I don’t know how I lived without it before.

But yeah, the battery life could be better. If you’re out shooting all day, expect to chew through 6 batteries, no joke. Wouldn’t mind a bit more juice, to be honest.

The selfie stick is pretty solid—feels nice and sturdy. But let’s talk about what really makes this thing shine: the stabilization. It’s unreal. The gyro data in Gyroflow makes the footage smooth as butter. I’ve thrown all kinds of wild action at it, and it just keeps everything steady.

And I’ve gotta say, I didn’t think I’d like the D-Log profile this much, but it looks awesome even without color grading. It’s got just the right amount of contrast—not too flat but not too intense, either. Makes things look good straight out of the camera, which is a win in my book.

The waterproofing is legit. I’ve had it soaked in rain, dunked in mineral-packed waterfalls, submerged in the sea in Andaman, and even tackled some rafting adventures. It’s handled all that like a champ. Haven’t tested it on a bike yet, so can’t say how it handles high-frequency vibes, but for everything else? It’s been awesome.

Seriously, if you’re into action cameras, the Action 4 is just a blast.

Let me throw in some must-have accessories for the DJI Action 4! You definitely need a hardshell case to keep it safe—it’s a no-brainer. A tripod mount is a must when you want to set it up on a tripod. I swear by the APU2668 from SmallRig because it’s got this cool setup that lets you adapt the GoPro buckle to an Arca-Swiss plate, which just makes everything so much easier. Oh, and don’t forget a backpack shoulder strap mount for those epic POV shots while hiking or whatever adventure you’re on.

And honestly, don’t stress about finding DJI-specific accessories. GoPro stuff works just fine. Just use the DJI base that magnetically connects to the Action 4, and you’re good to go. The bottom part with the prongs and screw fits pretty much everything, so you can swap accessories in and out without any hassle.

Better than the competition.

Great value for money. Extensively researched action cameras before ordering this, and settled on The Action 4 as it got great reviews and beat the GoPro alternative in every review I saw.

Picture quality is first class, and the electronic stability is amazing. Easy to use and is very intuitive once you get set up. I have a few DJI products and all are excellent, so was also attracted by my experience with the quality of any DJI products used before. Build quality is exceptional.

As with most action cameras, low light quality is potentially and issue, so probably a good idea to look into a light for this. I was able to find a high quality and inexpensive aftermarket light, specifically made for this camera on Amazon and it’s a great addition.

Sound quality from the on board camera is excellent, or it will easily work with most wireless USB C lavalier microphones with no setup required. Just plug in and go.

In comparison to other action cameras, DJI consistently excels in terms of color output, sound recordings, application integrity, and stability.

The list of its strengths is extensive. In short, it surpasses even the most recent GoPro model.

The charging case is particularly useful for travelers, as it can simultaneously charge multiple batteries and display their individual battery percentages.

Additional advantages that no other action camera on the market can match include quick charging, a precise and flawless touchscreen on both sides, and a sturdy, rock-solid build.

It offers excellent value for the price.

Beautiful image quality, with unbelievable motion stabilization- there will never be a need for tripods with functions like this!

DJI has pulled my recommendation away from GoPro until something really big changes in terms of value for the money.

The value of the entire DJI ecosystem is what makes this little guy the MVP on an indie video producers’ team.

Functionality Checklist:
Super lightweight, with no need for waterproof housing.
Shock case makes vertical videos easy.
Pairing with wireless mics? Easy.
Compatibility with other accessories? Mega easy.
Setting advanced color modes & profiles? Yup, also a piece of cake.
Image stabilization? So many modes, you could attach it to the top of a roomba, and it would look like a $1M dolly shot- still in 4k at 120 fps.
Slow motion for days.
Easy log profiles for flat color output.
Decent in-camera audio for the casual vlog or family production on social media.

The one limitation I have found is letting the camera dunk a little too deeply in saltwater for a little too long.

Clearly I’m not the only person saying this.

But man, what an exciting time to be making content!
