I would like to thank the seller for selling this product in Amazon, i could not describe the joy, it brings back old memories ( nostalgia).. the joy is you have manually tune the channel to catch the radio stations, since it has DSP it is an added advantage when you are indoors with poor reception.
I was quite amused by the sound output this can reproduce, the antenna is quite sturdy, uses 2 AA and well build body and has an earphone 3mm socket. The AM works flawlessly. FM can catch upto 10 channels in my location (Chennai) which is quite impossible for digital radios that we get in market these days ( which has autotunning feature) and cannot catch more than 5 or 6 stations. Unless you are completely outdoor.
This is absolute best buy for the price. If you are looking for pocket friendly transistor here you go !

I have used so many portable radio receivers in the past and most of them were from top brands and were too expensive. But this radio receiver seems to be as good as those that were way too expensive but with a very reasonable price tag. The color and design of this radio receiver is similar to the one that I saw from a reputable brand but its performance is also no less than that one, and I feel very lucky to have it with such a low price.
The dial scale of this radio covers the entire AM (520-1710 kHz) and FM (87-108 MHz) broadcast frequencies that some portable radio receivers don’t have. The reception quality is fantastic and the AM reception is also good. The running knob is very accurate and smooth, which makes it very easy to tune the stations. But it doesn’t have a tuning light. The FM reception quality is also superb and it can also tune to some distant (non-local) FM stations. However, the antenna is not too long so in some places (especially indoors), FM signals could drop. So using a long wire antenna with the radio antenna could boost the signal. The AM reception can also be improved by using a custom made loop antenna, like the one I made and showed in the video.
It has a good speaker (maybe of 2 W) and the sound quality is almost like a digital Bluetooth speaker (when FM is used). The radio receiver requires 2 AA batteries and when alkaline batteries are used, it can give a very good battery life, which will let you run the radio receiver for hours. However, I would have liked it if it had a rechargeable battery and the receiver was powered using a mobile charger. It has a headphone jack connector that can be used to connect with a pair of headphones. I would have also liked it more if it came with a Bluetooth speaker and a flashlight for emergency use.

This seems like a good quality portable radio receiver with a reasonable price tag and if listening to the radio stations is your primary requirement, then go for it.

Love this radio for its audio quality, its reception & filtering quality. It’s very light weight without batteries, I will ignore its build quality precision because this eats away the charm of Sony ICF P-26. Since it’s DSP, power consumption is slightly more than the Analog ones, which is accepted to me as it sounds very pleasant, some low frequencies are reproduced by the speaker nicely.

For some reason my previous attempts to post a review for this portable radio have been unsuccessful. Hope this one comes through. I see that there are a lot of negative reviews that have come up since I checked this listing previously. I bought this radio in Jan 2023 and it has been serving me really well.
The radio reception is quite good. I use this in Chennai and we receive a total of 10 FM stations here. I have noticed that the reception is a bit poor when on the ground floor of our house (5 or 6 out of 10 clearly), but improves quite significantly when I’m on the first floor (8 out of 10 clearly). It’s best when I’m at the terrace (all 10 clearly). I also receive two AM stations (a clear AIR Chennai, as well as a noisy AIR Bangalore).
In these 1.5 yrs I see that the price has this radio has gone down by a fourth, and that there a lot more options to choose from. Still, for a complete beginner, I still think this is a great place to start. Oh, and the sound quality while using headphones is quite good (even if it’s only mono).
