ヘッドホンは30機種持っています。細かく言うのもめんどくさいので省略しますが、ヘッドホンマニアが知っていて売れ筋で性能が良いと言われるものはだいたい持ってます。その上で、HD800は素晴らしいと思います。
全然レベルは違うのですが、ヘッドホン初心者に向けて、わかりやすく言えば万能型のHD598やHD595の遥か上と言えばいいのかもしれません。レコードプレイヤーなどのアナログ音源に最適化されていたHD650とは毛色が全く違い、現代向け、CDP向け、音場感や解像度がデジタル音源に合わせたクリアな出力向けという感じです。元々現代的な音源と相性の良いSTAXの方向にも近いと思います。
……、どうしてこんな高額なものをAmazonで買ったんだろう……。それはともかく、DENON スーパーオーディオCDプレーヤー DCD-1500SESPや、audio-technica ヘッドホンアンプ AT-HA5000と一緒に使っています。

This is a TOTL product with stellar soundstage, fantastic imaging and excellent comfort. It envelops you in sound with its large earphones. Yet, there is no fatiguing effect here. It is so light and comfortable, you can forget you have it on. The only thing that remains is sound.

Awesome product with tremendous sound. I was using HD800 before this and I must say sennheiser does a drastic change between these two products if you are planning for 800 instead of that go for this one you will definitely gonna love it’s bass now moving to comfort it is little bit heavy but you don’t feel such weight after wearing it for long time it becomes like the part of you. However I’m giving this 4 star because instead of having amazon prine it takes almost 1.5 month to delivery but the product is just magnificent.

These headphones cost me a kidney, a lung, and my financial future, but wow the sound quality is so crisp I can hear my bank account crying in lossless audio. The bass hits harder than my medical bills, and the comfort is so good it almost makes me forget I can’t afford food anymore. Battery life? Longer than my remaining lifespan.
Would I buy them again? Only if someone donates a kidney in my name.

Let’s start with my audiophile journey.
As a musician, i was always looking for enjoy the music and sounds as well as hearing the truth of recordings.
I own following headphones.
Sony XM4, HD 8 DJ, HD 660S and now HD 800S.
Trust me, Sony XM4 is good headphone for normal consumer who looking for all rounder music.
HD 8 DJ – I am still finding low end (bass) like that, so deep but this headphone is meant for Dj and focused music listening. Consider for EDM mostly.
HD 660S – Favourite – if you don’t not afford HD 800S please go with HD 660S. It almost everything which HD 800S offers. For Indian music and specially vocals. You will hear the structure of instruments and vocals. This is top class headphone Even HD 800S could not match with Vocal structuring of sound. Just make sure to EQ it properly for lower frequency.
HD 800 S – It feels like you listening music in Theatre or speaker. Very detailed and i can hear something that was missing in older headphones. It’s Soundstage allows you to hear individual samples that are used in music. There is almost 80% similarity to HD 660S, but space between instruments and presentation music is really top on HD 800S. This headphone needs an AMP DAC. A decent DAC may cost half as much as this headphone.
Always remember, it is just a headphone & nothing else, it’s your mind which represents music to you. I even enjoy music in Rs. 1k to 5k cost headphones too. Not everyone need Ferrari to travel and still we all enjoy traveling with our vehicle.
If you really afford it then buy it, you will enjoy.

This is a TOTL headphone. Buy it if you have the proper gear to drive it. There are lots of reviews available from reputed audiophile websites. Check them out before spending your hard-earned money.
P.S. I am satisfied with the purchase and HD800s ends my headphone quest.
